Rules and Terms

The Pervolia International Film Festival aim is to present and showcase outstanding cinematic feature and short films from around the world which are created by independent fillmmakers, professionals as well as film schools’ students, to develop the platform for presenting Cypriote films and networking of Cypriote and foreign film professionals.

We invite feature films with a minimum duration of 40 minutes and short films with a duration of up to 30 minutes which have been finished after January 1st 2022 and consider to pertain to one of the following categories: fiction, documentary, animation or experimental.


SUBMIT THE FILM

We accept submissions via FilmfreeWay 

Every film which is not originally in English must have English subtitles to be considered for the selection.

Films must be submitted by the director, producer, distributor of any other official representative. A person, who submit the film, holds all necessary rights for the film to participate in the Festival. This person is also responsible to proceed with communications with a Festival.


SELECTION PROCESS AND PARTICIPATION IN THE FESTIVAL

The limited number of films will be selected for the program of the Festival. The films selected by the special selection committee of the Festival will be invited to take part in the program. In case the film is selected, the submitter will be asked to send the screening agreement, stills, subtitles (dialogue lists with time-codes), projection copy (without burnt in subtitles) via the Internet or to the physical address of the Festival.

The selected films will be screened in Pervolia, Cyprus during the Festival up to two times. The best works will be included in the program of PIFF on tour. The winners of the Festival will be automatically included in the program. 

The directors of all films which has been selected for the official program of the Festival (either competitive or not) will be invited to Pervolia, Cyprus, covering the accommodation and transfer from/to an airport. Festival will be discussing the possibilities of covering the travel costs with every guest individually.

Films in Greek, Turkey or in languages other than English will only be accepted with English subtitles.

Film must not be widely commercially available on video/DVD/online/streaming in Italy before the festival dates.

Feature films and feature documentaries must have a minimum run-time of 40 minutes.

All short films must have a run-time under 30 minutes.

Entrants must submit their films through FilmFreeway or Festhome. All films must be submitted as either an online screener or Vimeo link for consideration. All entrants must be over the age of 18 to submit films.

Students must provide a copy of their college/university identification card to show enrollment.

You hereby grant Pervolia International Film Festival all rights necessary to exhibit and promote the submitted film at the festival. You represent that such exhibition will not violate or infringe upon any rights whatsoever (including copyright, trademark, musical, or contract right) of any person or entity. You further represent that you are authorized to submit the submitted film. Additionally, you indemnify the festival from any and all claims, demands, losses, costs, damages, and attorney's fees arising out of or in connection with third parties in regards to the screening of the said film. Further, in submitting to our festival, you hereby agree that you have read and agree to the General Rules and Regulations for submissions to the Liguria International Film Festival.

AWARDS

The program of the Festival consists of International Competition, National Competition, non-competitive and special screenings, master-classes and meetings with guests and special events. Apart of the official selection, there will be screenings of partner organizations — other festivals, films schools, archives, cultural institutions.

The winners of the International and National Competitions will be selected by the International and National Jury Boards correspondingly. There are minimum 3 international film professionals in each Jury Board. The authors of the winning films will be awarded from the Festival Prize Fund.
